The mid-15th century grand staircase at Raglan Castle has re-opened to the public following a major conservation programme by Cadwraeth Cymru, Cadw's works arm.
The structure is an early example of a processional stair, which would originally have been used by guests of the Earl of Pembroke
Nicknamed the Hokey-Cokey Staircase because it has been put in and taken out at least three times in its 550 year history, numerous attempts were made to record the remains and gather evidence in order to reconstruct it in its original stone form.
A wooden staircase was installed in the mid-1980s but this was closed and removed when it began to decay.
