In Scotland, 4Dventure at Edinburgh's Our Dynamic Earth is a £700,000 (US$1m, 820,000 euro) 4D attraction, provided by Global Immersion and part funded by the Scottish Government.
First launched in April 2010, the hardware, including glasses, seats, projectors and 4D effects came to £300,000 (US$430,000, 352,000 euro). Theming the pre-show area as an Arctic exploration base cost £75,000 (US$107,000, 88,000 euro). The services were £115,000 (US$165,000, 194,000 euro). The film was £180,000 (US$258,000, 211,000 euro) and the balance was made up of contingencies.
As its remit was to drive home an educational message in an entertaining format, NSC Creative was commissioned to produce a bespoke eight-minute film to show the earth's diversity. The experience takes visitors on a journey through different biospheres from the Arctic to the Tropical Rainforest, meeting a shark and a rhino head-on and escaping the sting of a scorpion's tail. Seat kickers provide subtle motion, and 4D effects add an extra element - viewers feel rain mist while "visiting" the Amazon, hot air and wind while in the Sahara, and snow while in Antarctica.
Marketing director Catriona Cardie says this is their most exciting investment to date: "3D film is very topical right now, but we've taken that a stage further by producing a completely immersive experience, which is even more lifelike and has some startling moments. We hope people will leave feeling as though they've had a real-life adventure as well as having had a taste of earth's diversity on the way."

Small Footprint, Big Significance: Studio City Water Park |
|
Long known for its fancy casinos, Macau realized within the past decade that it must
diversify its tourism scene to attract new crowds. With the ambition of becoming the
leisure hub of China’s 72-million strong Greater Bay Area, the city began adding shows,
attractions, and family-friendly hotels. But the offering that truly stands out with fun
for everyone is Studio City Water Park – Macau’s first stand-alone water park, with all
the water slides and aquatic play structures supplied by WhiteWater. |

How surf simulators are transforming the experience economy |
|
The experience economy, driven by evolving consumer trends, is poised for continued growth
in the coming years. Millennials have been at the forefront of this shift, favouring
memorable experiences over material possessions. This preference has extended to other
generations as well, indicating a broader adoption of experience-focused spending habits
in the attractions sector. |
