Audiovisual company Electrosonic has been working with the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame on its remodelled gallery, supplying equipment and integration services.
Electrosonic has also helped realise a gigantic interactive mobile in the Fort Worth, Texas museum’s Grand Rotunda. These updates are part of a two-phase renovation of the attraction’s galleries and public areas.
The over-sized mobile – engineered by Goppion – is made up of graphic panels and 12 projection screens which hang from rods suspended from the atrium’s ceiling. Like an enormous hanging and rotating high-tech sculpture, the mobile is balanced by each precisely weighted object.
BrightSign media players feed NEC LED projectors which are integrated into the mobile design to provide video to the dozen screens. The video content can be changed to cater to special events in the Grand Rotunda.
“There are slip rings on the roof of the museum to supply power and Ethernet through the rods. When the mobile is operating, the effect is pretty amazing,” said Electrosonic programme manager Tom Rowat.
In the new gallery, five Pepper’s ghosts have been installed - each one triggered by hidden motion detectors. The star of the show is a life-size Pepper’s ghost of renowned markswoman Annie Oakley.
Also in the gallery, which focuses on stories of cowgirls in Wild West shows, Panasonic projectors bring historic scenes to life on five room-height glass screens. There are also wall-hung displays, 48-inch Samsung monitors fed by BrightSign players – and five wall-mounted interactives, Elo Touch Solutions 32-inch touchscreens controlled by Dell computers.
Thanks to the Crestron system that controls the BrightSign players, projectors and monitors throughout the gallery, Electrosonic can access the gallery remotely should any technical issues arise.
