Hüttinger Exhibition Engineering has designed and built the new 'Earthquakes and Volcanoes' gallery at the Palais de la découverte in Paris.
Designed as a temporary travelling exhibition, the show includes the themes of 'Au pied des vulkan/At the foot of the volcano', 'La dynamique intern/The dynamic interior of the earth' and 'Lorsque la terre tremble/When the earth shakes' and involves visitor interaction with a range of different exhibits, replicas of scientific laboratory experiments and multimedia presentations.
Particular importance has been attached to incorporating visually handicapped visitors, with each exhibit featuring at least one tactile element and all the graphics being provided with braille signing.
For people with mobility problems, all the exhibits have been installed in such a way that they are easily accessible.
The Palais de la découverte, situated in the centre of Paris, was founded in 1937 to make people aware of scientific methods. Visitors are invited to experiment with and understand the basic laws of physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, medicine and information technology.
