Antenna Audio, in collaboration with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas who preserve and care for the site, has produced a Discovery Audio tour for one of America's great historic sites, the Alamo.
The Alamo is the most visited destination in the state of Texas, with over 2.5m visitors annually.
It's best known for the 13-day siege and battle between Mexican soldiers and the nearly 200 Tejano and Texan forces seeking to establish an independent republic in Texas.
The contemporary Alamo campus is comprised of historic structures from the Spanish mission-era, buildings from the 1930’s Works Progress Administration, and is beautifully landscaped.
The new tour is the first of its kind at the Alamo. Using music and sound effects to bring the site to life, visitors will be guided by an X-plorer™ hand-held player.
The tour, which was available from mid-May and is narrated by a native Texan, lasts approximately 50 minutes and available to rent onsite. There is also a CD sold in the gift shop, which includes bonus tracks not heard on the hand-held audio tour.
