Plans for the refurbishment of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London, is among four schemes across the UK to receive a share of £13m from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
The National Maritime Museum is set to benefit from a new entrance linking the attraction with Greenwich Park, as well as a new library, archive facilities and a special exhibitions gallery, after the project received a £5m grant.
All Souls Church in Bolton, Lancashire, is to be transformed into a education, training and youth facility with the help of a £3.3m grant from the HLF, which will see existing pews removed and replaced with a community centre.
Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire has received £1.5m to fund the reinstatement of the original entrance and the refurbishment of New Inn, which was built in 1717.
A £4m grant has been awarded to the Vindolanda Trust in Northumberland to help the organisation link its two museums at the remains of Roman forts at the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site, as well as the creation of a new gallery space and education centre.
Carole Souter, HLF chief executive, said: "The projects are perfect examples of the breadth of our heritage: a 19th-century church in the heart of Bolton; a maritime archive of global importance; a Roman settlement providing a snapshot of the ancient world; and spectacular 18th-century landscape gardens.
"The funding will ensure that vital parts of our heritage are not only repaired and restored, but transformed for thousands more people to enjoy long into the future."
A further two projects at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire and Wentworth Castle, South Yorkshire, have been earmarked to receive funding from the HLF after being handed first-round passes to draw up more detailed plans.
Bletchley Park has been awarded £460,500 to help develop an application for a grant of £4.1m to repair key buildings and improve visitor facilities at the World War Two code-breaking site.
Meanwhile, the HLF has awarded Wentworth Castle a first round pass worth £22,000 towards a potential grant of £2.5m to help restore a Grade II*-listed Victoria conservatory.
