The dance studio of the late American actress Debbie Reynolds is to be transformed into a movie museum.
Reynolds – who died on 28 December 2016, just one day after the death of her daughter, actress Carrie Fisher – was known for her work as a film historian and had collected a large amount of Hollywood memorabilia. Her collection will form the main content of the new museum.
Reynolds’ son Todd Fisher is organising the transformation of her Hollywood dance studio into an attraction. Artefacts include costumes from her 1952 film
Singin’ in the Rain and the 1964 film
The Unsinkable Molly Brown.
According to Fisher, it’s possible some of the artefacts will eventually be housed in the
upcoming Academy Museum of Motion Pictures – a Renzo Piano-designed facility slated to open soon in Los Angeles, California.
As well as her starring role alongside Gene Kelly in
Singin’ in the Rain, Reynolds has appeared in more recent films, including as Liberace’s mother in
Behind the Candelabra, and as Grace’s mother in the hit US television series
Will and Grace.
