The Welsh Conservative party has announced its support for the regeneration of seaside towns in Wales to help meet the demands of the increasingly competitive tourism market.

The party believes that public amenities like parks, piers and leisure facilities in seaside resorts such as Llandudo, Porthcawl, Rhyl, Barry and Colwyn Bay should be financed by public, private and European funding in order to meet the thriving domestic demand and to encourage more people from elsewhere in the UK to visit Wales.

Shadow economic development minister David Melding AM said: “Through investment we can help create ‘Costa Cymru’ and allow our resorts to seaside thrive.”
