Passengers have been warned to expect delays and cancellations to flights out of airports across the UK as severe weather conditions continue to affect travel in the lead up to Christmas.

A number of easyJet flights - including flights from Luton, Stansted and Edinburgh airports - scheduled for 23 December have fallen to victim to the wintery weather, although Ryanair has confirmed that it intends to operate all scheduled flights.

Further disruption was caused at Glasgow Airport this morning after a Ryanair flight from Dublin skidded onto a grass verge at the end of the runway, having encountered ice as it taxied back to the terminal after completing its landing.

A Ryanair spokesperson said: "After a normal landing was completed and while taxiing from the runway the aircraft encountered ice and slid just off the runway onto the grass verge. Passengers disembarked normally and were bussed to the terminal."

Meanwhile, Eurostar passengers travelling to the continent via the Channel Tunnel have been advised that all trains from London St Pancras station before 1pm on 23 December are fully booked.

Eurostar services were severely disrupted over the weekend after a number of trains broke down, although the operator has confirmed services will be running throughout today. However, Eurotunnel has cancelled all day trip bookings for car passengers using the Folkestone to Calais service due to heavy traffic levels.
