Wave Loch signs deal for first Flow House
POSTED 07 Oct 2009 . BY Tom Walker
Water ride manufacturer Wave Loch is to launch a new visitor attraction concept called Flow House next year.

Details of the new venture were announced at the Euro Attractions Show (EAS) in Amsterdam last week.

The first of the new sites will open early 2010 in Bedford, UK, after Wave Loch signed a joint venture deal with Bedford-based Bodyflight, which operates an extreme-sport venue close to the town centre.

The first ever Flow House will include a large FlowRider and will complement existing facilities at the Bodyflight site, which include an indoor skydiving tunnel, a 125ft high Bodyflight Vertigo jump, a 30m high climbing wall and a fitness club.

The Bedford site will be jointly operated by Bodyflight and Wave Loch, but according to Simon Palmer, operations and development director, future Flow Houses can be delivered in a number of ways.

"We are making the Flow House concept a very flexible one," he said.

"Operators who want to add a Flow House to their offer will have a number of options to choose from so we can pretty much tailor to what ever the clients' needs are.

"Each Flow House will also include retail and food and beverage areas, while the entire site will be themed to provide users an unique experience."

"The idea behind Flow House is to bring together all the board sports - such as surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and bodyboarding - and to provide people with a facility at which they can hone their skills."

The Bedford site is currently in planning stages and is scheduled to open by Easter 2010.

Wave Loch is owned by entrepreneur Tom Loctefeld, who already owns and operates three Wave House-branded attractions around the world. Wave House sites include a mixture of FlowRiders and FlowBarrels as well as large retail outlets, hospitality areas and live music venues.
