The construction of a new visitor facility is among plans for the restoration of a mausoleum at St Munn's Church in Kilmun, west Scotland.
Argyll Mausoleum - established in order to secure funding for the scheme - has confirmed that work can now start after the first contract was signed.
Funding is being provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the LEADER initiative and Argyll and Bute Council.
Renovation plans also includes the restoration of the building and historic artefacts and the opening up of the mausoleum to the community, schools and tourists.
Argyll Mausoleum chair Dinah McDonald said: "We have been working on this project for more than two years and it gives the whole team a great deal of satisfaction to see this first step in the restoration process being accomplished."
