Plans to introduce images of UK attractions on official coinage are a step closer to reality.
Delegates at this week’s Visitor Attraction Conference (VAC) were given the opportunity to cast their votes on which attractions should feature on the reverse of six UK coins – from the penny to the fifty pence piece.
Images of the six winners will then be submitted to the Royal Mint’s open competition to find new designs for the coins.
Ken Robinson, chair of VAC, said: “Designs featured on coins are symbols of the nation.“
“If we can put images of UK attractions on the coins, it will be a constant reminder to foreign visitors of our unique offering every time they spend money.”
