At least six people have been injured after a lift malfunctioned at London’s Tower Bridge.
According to witness reports, the lift inside the bridge’s north tower plunged 30ft before coming to a halt close to ground.
A spokesperson for the City of London Police said that at least two people had been taken to hospital. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The bridge was closed from traffic shortly after the incident at 1pm.
Tower bridge opened in 1894 and has become a popular visitor attraction. It is currently undergoing a £4m revamp, although the work does not include structural work.
