The Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, estimated to be the third biggest theme park in Europe, after Eurodisney in France and the Blackpool Pleasure Park in England, has revealed an increase in visitor numbers of 10 per cent – 3.26 million visitors for the 2003 season, against the same period last year.

The attraction, created in 1843 in the centre of the city, closed its doors at the end of the summer season on 21 September.

The rise in figures this summer was put down to an increase in Danish and Swedish visitors. The park will re-open for Christmas on 18 November and expects around 800,000 visitors. Details: www.tivoli.dk
