The Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom amusement park in Louisville, Kentucky, US, has shut down a thrill ride following a serious incident involving a teenage girl on 21 June.
It is thought that a cable broke loose on the park’s Superman Tower of Power, amputating the feet of the 13-year-old passenger.
The operator has also shut down similar rides at its St Louis, Illinois and Washington sites.
In addition, Cedar Fair Entertainment – which operates 12 North American theme parks – has closed similar drop tower rides at its parks as a safety precaution until the cause of the cable break has been established.
An update of the passenger’s condition has not been released.
