The Tate Britain gallery and the BBC have joined forces for a new tv series and exhibition which will examine a number of 1960s artists.
Due to be screened on BBC Four this summer, the series and the exhibition at Tate Britain will feature numerous icons from the world of art, including Richard Hamilton, David Hockney and Bridget Riley, as well as less well-known names from the 1960s.
The tv series will form part of the BBC’s Summer In The Sixties season, which will also include documentaries, discussion and music.
The exhibition will make particular reference to artists and works which marked a fundamental shift in art practice or artistic language during the decade.
A study day organised by Tate Britain and the Design Museum, entitled Discovering Pop London: Pop Architecture and Art, will take place on 3 July. Details: www.tate.org.uk
