Television explorers such as Michael Palin have inspired more people to take exciting holidays in remote locations, according to a survey by the organisers of this year's Adventure Travel and Sports Show.
Fifty adventure holiday operators were asked to provide information. Programmes such as Palin's Sahara had encouraged people to try somewhere new, according to the report. Despite basic conditions, respondents were ready to pay heavily for such holidays, often between £1,500 and £2,500 per person.
