The organisers of the 2006 Sydney Royal Easter Show are confident that more than 900,000 people attended the event this year.
By noon on Easter Sunday, following the opening on Friday 7 April, more than 600,000 people had entered Sydney Showground.
Speaking at the time, John Aitken, general manager of marketing and events for the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, said: “600,000 people coming through our gates represent 600,000 smiles. We are here to give Sydneysiders a great show and continue our reputation as the biggest and best annual event in Australia.
“The crowds here have been fantastic, filling up the NAB Arena every lunchtime and evening to see the daredevil antics of the freestyle MotoX team, the Holden Stormriders, Sydney Royal Rodeo and Lady Cannonball.
“The gate numbers are a testament to how much Sydney loves the Show for its quality agricultural competitions, displays and daily entertainment. This reflects a coming together of the city and the country in one fantastic event.”
The show ran until 20 April. Details: www.eastershow.com.au
