St Albans City and District Council (SACDC) has reopened the city's historic 15th century Clock Tower to visitors, following the completion of a ten-week conservation project.
The local authority, which owns the building, has carried out work to replace wooden louvre slats covering some of the windows and to repoint the Grade I-listed tower's brickwork.
SACDC district archaeologist Simon West said: "The tower is a building of significant architectural interest in St Albans. From the beginning it had a mechanical clock, a great rarity at that time."
Architect Roy Darby and construction firm Bakers of Danbury carried out the work, which was undertaken in consultation with English Heritage.
