A Rs50m (US$835,000, €615,000, £500,000) science centre is being planned to sit opposite Wonders Theme Park in Navi Mumbai, India.
The town planning department has tabled a bid to reserve a number of plots covering 25,000sq m (269,000sq ft) for the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), which is behind the science centre plans.
The centre will be similar to the nearby Mumbai Nehru Planetarium, which opened in 1977. Proposals were sanctioned in 2013, with town planning director Prakash Thakur stating: "It is going to be a huge project due to the area being demanded at the planning stage. The plans also include an internal road that goes through the plots."
Planning officials believe the new centre will help attendances at Wonders Park, which offers miniature versions of the seven wonders of the world along with rides and other attractions, while NMMC says the centre will benefit children because they will gain access to research-oriented activities, as well as information about latest scientific advancements and innovations.
While centre plans have not yet been confirmed, a committee will be formed to work out the construction of the centre as well as the activities it will cover.
