Sandringham Palace – the Queen’s Norfolk estate – will feature an ice skating rink this winter.
The 200sq m (2,150sq ft) temporary open-air ice rink will be built outside the existing visitor centre, complete with Christmas trees and fairy lights.
Helen Walch, Sandringham’s public enterprises manager, said: “We are all very excited about the ice rink. It’s something I’ve been hoping to do for a long time, and I’m delighted that we are able to introduce it this year. We have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the plan from local people and visitors – the feeling seems to be that a rink will really bring a buzz of activity and atmosphere to the country park in winter, and people are already looking forward to it!”
One-hour skating slots will be available daily (except Christmas Day) from 4 December to 7 January and refreshments will also be on hand at Sandringham’s restaurant. Details: www.sandringhamestate.co.uk
