A roller coaster described as being "For those who want to look terror in the eyes", failed at a Six Flags amusement park on 1 July, stranding 24 passengers about 130ft off the ground for more than two hours.
The coaster, a Vekoma Invertigo ride known as Two Face :The Flip Side, was successfully moved back to its boarding area by park staff and the passengers released unharmed.
The park, at Largo near Washington, is investigating the cause of the incident and the ride – built in 1999, with a top speed of 60mph and defined as an "Inverted forward and backwards looping coaster featuring a boomerang double-inverted sidewinder and a 72 foot vertical loop" – remains closed.
