New Walk Museum and Art Gallery in Leicester is to undergo a two-year improvement programme costing £50,000.
A new Discover Gallery aimed at children will open in February 2009, alongside a new dinosaur gallery called Prehistorica thanks to funding from the DCMS Wolfson Foundation. The venue’s existing café will also be improved and relocated.
Cllr Andy Connelly, cabinet lead for culture at Leicester City Council, said: “We are taking the opportunity of doing repairs to part of the ceiling to get moving with our planned improvements. We want to make sure that visitors to the museum have an enjoyable experience.”
