ROH confirms Olympic Museum collaboration
POSTED 10 May 2011 . BY Pete Hayman
London's Royal Opera House (ROH) and BP are to work with the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, to bring a new exhibition to the capital ahead of the 2012 Games.

The Olympic Journey: The Story of the Games will run during next summer's Olympic Games between 27-12 August and will form part of the Cultural Olympiad finale.

Artefacts, graphics, films and audio from the Olympic Museum's collection will come to London as part of the exhibition, including a display of all medals since 1896.

Olympic Torches dating back to 1936 will also go on show, while a Hall of Champions will explore the stories and achievements of some of the modern Games' great Olympians.

The Olympic Museum will curate the exhibition at ROH, with designers Metaphor to also work to allow visitors to explore the history of the event since its initial inception in Greece.

ROH chief executive and Cultural Olympiad chair Tony Hall said: "Arts and culture have an important role to play alongside the magnificent sporting competition next summer.

"The London 2012 Festival, the finale of the Cultural Olympiad, is already shaping up to be one of the finest of any Olympic and Paralympic Games."
