Merseyside Police has confirmed that it is investigating two deaths at the World Museum Liverpool.
Kevin Howard, 21, fell from a third floor balcony, after reportedly stabbing Laura Bailey, 17, on Sunday (26 November). Bailey had her one-year old son with her at the time, who has now been placed in the care of social services.
Superintendent Oz Billings of Merseyside Police said that the man and the woman were taken to hospital, but despite the efforts of the paramedics and hospital staff, they both died of their injuries.
The museum, which is part of National Museums Liverpool, was closed to the public until today (28 November) while the police carried out their investigations.
A spokesperson for the museum said: “The building meets the requirements of safety legislation. At over five feet, the height of the barriers on the walkway exceeds safety guidelines. Nevertheless, following this incident we will be carrying out further safety inspections.”
