Plans for Texas-themed US$205m theme park near Houston
POSTED 27 Feb 2013 . BY Aoife Dowling
Plans are underway to build a multi-million dollar theme park project in Montgomery County, Texas, US.

Developer Monty Galland is in the process of working through agreements with the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) for the new attraction.

Developers intend to have their predevelopment, engineering and planning completed before October 2013 with an expected opening date of March 2015.

Grand Texas Theme Park project will include a 120-acre Texas style theme park, a Big River Water Park, an 8,000-seat amphitheater and a baseball park seating up to 12,000 people.

Additional attractions will include a 10-acre paintball complex, Flint Ranch Agra entertainment area and 363,000 sq ft (33,724 sq m) of entertainment, dining and retail

A luxury 200-400 room hotel and smaller hotels with between 175-200 rooms would also feature along with a reception hall and wedding chapel, and four stand-alone restaurants.

The complex is expected to attract more than 1.4m visitors a year with an annual economic impact of US$334m.

EMCID chamber president Andy Dill said:"We are very excited to learn the details of the Grand Texas project and look forward to working with Matt and Monty as this project goes forward. This will be a great tourism draw for our area, create jobs, and help keep East Montgomery County moving forward economically."
