The Prince's Regeneration Trust (PRT) and the Cornwall Buildings Preservation Trust have submitted a new planning application for the historic Old Duchy Palace in Lostwithiel.
The revised scheme contains both commercial and community use, with the basement including heritage interpretation and telling the palace's story and its part in Cornwall's history. The main hall and first floor will provide office and meeting room space.
An application for a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to assist with the cost was turned down last year, but the PRT's Ros Kerslake said: "We are hopeful of securing funding of around £200,000 from the European Regional Development Fund to add to grants from English Heritage and Cornwall Council."
