Our Dynamic Earth – the coolest place to be this summer
POSTED 06 Jul 2007 . BY
Our Dynamic Earth is the coolest place to be in Edinburgh this summer as the attraction, which recently launched its new Polar Gallery, further embraces international Polar Year by opening an outdoor ‘Polar Ice rink’ over the summer months.

The synthetic ice rink, which will be located at the front of the building, will be open for skating from the 16 July- 20 August inclusive, and can accommodate up to 35 skaters at any one time.

Visitors can also enjoy the great outdoors at the Terrace Café – opening for the first time this summer - which will allow visitors to enjoy the breathtaking views of Edinburgh while enjoying the summer sun and fresh air.

In addition, Our Dynamic Earth is also launching Rock Legends – a short walking tour which tells the tale of James Hutton, the founder of modern Geology and the myths and legends surrounding Arthur’s Seat.

This 30-minute experience will be enhanced by a costumed tour guide in the character of James Hutton. The tours will celebrate the life and work of James Hutton through a dynamic and imaginative performance, and will include a visit to Earthscape Scotland plus the terrace with views to Arthur’s Seat.

The tour is being run in association with Mercat tours, renowned for providing the best ghost and historical walking tours in Edinburgh. Tours for up to 30 people will run daily from 9 July for two weeks. Further information from www.dynamicearth.co.uk
