Oakwood Leisure Ltd will stand trial at the Crown Court over the death of a 16-year-old girl who died after falling from a water ride at Oakwood Leisure Park in Pembrokeshire, Wales, in 2004.
Haley Liane Williams died after falling 100 ft from the park’s Hydro ride. A 10-year-old boy was also injured in the incident.
The company is charged with failing to ensure persons not in its employment were not exposed to risks to their health and safety, the BBC reported.
Former Oakwood owner Paddy McNamara, who sold the company to Spanish visitor attraction operator Aspro in March, was present at the Haverfordwest magistrates court on 22 May, the Western Telegraph reported.
His solicitor requested an adjournment for more time to review the case, saying the company was not yet ready to give a plea, but magistrates denied the request and directed that the case should proceed on the assumption of a not guilty plea.
They then declined jurisdiction of the case, adjourning proceedings until July, when it will be committed to trial at Swansea Crown Court, the BBC said.
The prosecution is being brought by the Health and Safety Executive under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
The Health and Safety Executive decided it would take action against Oakwood in February.
