Nine rare, black-eared marmoset monkeys – including two four-week-old babies – were reportedly stolen from Exmoor Zoo in Devon, UK, on 19 March.
The family is in danger because of the sudden transfer from a tropical enclosure to sub-zero overnight temperatures.
Two pairs of parrots, a pair of cockatoos and a pair of Amazonian endangered white-fronted marmoset monkeys were also stolen in the £10,000 haul.
It is thought that the thieves intend to sell the creatures to private dealers. Details: www.exmoorzoo.co.uk
