The Nigerian Conservative Foundation (NCF) and the Lagos State Government (LASG) have teamed up to construct Africa's longest canopy walkway in an effort to boost tourism in the area.

The giant walkway, which sits in the NCF Biodiversity Park, is the main attraction in a larger development which includes the Lekki Conservation Centre, as well as a family fun park with exotic fish ponds, sections for barbecues and games, gazebos and climbing frames for kids.

The canopy walkway is 401m-long (1,315ft), 0.6m-wide (1.9ft) and sits 22.5m (73.8ft) above the jungle floor.

"This is the longest skywalk in Africa and the second longest in the world,” said Lagos governor Babatunde Fashola. “This is perhaps, the most defining thing to this environment itself. The skywalk is a lovely view. For those who are yet to visit it, they cannot understand what they are missing.”

Fashola continued that the innovation was built to “keep tourism in the country” and to reduce outside spend and levels of foreign exchange, creating more destinations for people to enjoy in Nigeria.
