Image: Visitors will be taken into Firing Room 4The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is to enable visitors to access Kennedy Space Center's Launch Control Center for the first time in more than 30 years.
Guests at the attraction in Florida, US, will be able to see inside where NASA directors and engineers coordinated all 152 launches for the space shuttle and Apollo programmes.
The KSC Up-Close: Launch Control Center Tour is the second in a 50th anniversary series of rare access tours at the complex, which will take visitors inside Firing Room 4.
Computer consoles used by engineers to oversee the computerised launch control system's checks leading up to launches are among the items on view to members of the public.
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex COO Bill Moore said: "This is another very rare opportunity that NASA has worked with us to provide.
"It might be another 30 years before guests will receive a behind-the-scenes opportunity like this again."
