Major film studios working with Dubai's Bollywood theme park
POSTED 23 Oct 2014 . BY Tom Anstey

Details of the Bollywood theme park coming to the AED10bn (US$2.7bn, €2.1bn, £1.7bn) Dubai Parks and Resorts development have been revealed by developer Meraas Holding, with several major film studios working on the park’s creative direction.

Meraas has previously announced details for both Motiongate Dubai and Legoland Dubai – part of the wider Dubai Parks and Resorts development. And now Bollywood Parks Dubai – a first-of-its-kind entertainment destination – will showcase an interactive Indian cinema experience across 3,000,000 sq ft (278,000sq m).

The theme park will host 16 rides within five Bollywood-themed areas, featuring content developed in partnership with India’s major film studios. The five areas will be known as Bollywood Film Studios, Mumbai Chowk, Hall Of Heroes, Regal Plaza and Rustic Ravine.

Guests will enter the park on ‘Bollywood Boulevard’, which will feature live entertainment made up of dancers, character interactions and street theatre. Around the park will be a number of retail outlets and themed restaurants.

“The cultural impact and appeal of Bollywood is universal with a global fan base of over three billion people,” said Raed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Dubai Parks and Resorts. “For the first time ever, a theme park in the region will recreate for residents and tourists the unparalleled glamour and extravagance of Bollywood on one stage. Here guests can live, learn, and immerse themselves in the delightful fantasy that they get to experience on the silver screen.”

Bollywood Parks Dubai is part of the phase one development of Meeras’ mega resort plan that, in addition to theme park developments, will include a Riverpark, grand entrance plaza and a family-themed hotel all scheduled for completion in late 2016.
