MOHAI’s Bezos Centre looking to showcase and foster innovation

The Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) has continued its pledge to engage learners in the importance of innovation and discovery following the opening of its Bezos Centre for Innovation last month.

During the opening on 12 October 2013, visitors were given the chance to view specifically designed Idea Lab Hour sessions, where leading creatives gave presentations and performances to celebrate the Bezos Centre’s inauguration.

As previously reported by Attractions Management magazine, the attraction has been in planning for two years, following extensive research and design – with the project also supported by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Mackenzie.

Visitors to the centre are able to experience a range of interactive experiences, as well as stories featuring the rise of trailblazing companies.

The centre will house programmed talks and performances from leading innovators to help educate visitors on the importance of development and progression.

There will also be a number of engaging competitions for the public to participate in, as the centre attempts to foster creativity in the public realm.

The centre’s current interactive competition asks for entrants to sketch and Tweet a picture of an innovation to win the chance of receiving a Kickstarter fund of US$500 (£314, €373) to help bring their creation to fruition, as well as a patent to protect its designs.
