The Conservation Centre in Liverpool, UK, is to reopen to the public on 16 June following a £570,000 refurbishment, funded by ReDiscover.
The attraction will now be known as the National Conservation Centre (NCC) and showcase National Museums Liverpool’s large and diverse collections.
As part of the refurb, a new exhibition gallery has been built within the NCC, complete with a working science laboratory at its heart and a permanent exhibition called Reveal – The Hidden Story of Objects.
The gallery will show how conservators use science to unlock the secrets hidden in objects and how objects can be preserved for the future.
Masterminded by narrative designers Houghton Kneale Design, visitors to the gallery will be given the opportunity to view objects in virtual reality and have a go at rebuilding a broken statue.
There will also be a number of temporary exhibitions within the new gallery. Details:
