The operator of Treasure Island, a visitor attraction situated on the seafront in Eastbourne, East Sussex, has gone into liquidation.

Eastbourne Borough Council said that it understood the operator of Treasure Island, Coasta, had called in liquidators following negotiations with the council over outstanding rent.

A council statement said: "Prior to this announcement the council, as landlord of the venue, had been negotiating the recovery of outstanding rent owed by Coasta.

"It is essential that an appropriate resolution is achieved in a timely manner and the council will contribute in any way it can to support this objective."
