Legoland's first waterpark to open in June
POSTED 25 Mar 2010 . BY Martin Nash
The world's first Legoland-themed waterpark is scheduled to open in June this year at Legoland California, with construction work currently taking place on the site's six-person family raft slide.

The 11ft-wide, 300ft-long slide is one of seven at the 5.5 acre waterpark, which will also include enclosed one-person tube slides and slides specially designed for toddlers.

Elsewhere will be a DUPLO zoo-themed water play area for toddlers, an interactive water play zone, two sandy beach wading areas and a feature called 'Build-A-Raft River', where children can customise their own raft made out of soft LEGO bricks before floating down a lazy river.

More than 20 new LEGO models will be constructed for the park, including 6ft tall LEGO characters which will splash and spray water on guests throughout the site.

The park's centrepiece will be a 45ft-tall tower, said to be designed to immerse children in the creative world of LEGO, plus a splash tower which will count down and pour hundreds of gallons of water over anyone standing underneath it.

The waterpark - which is a US$10 upgrade from the standard admission price to Legoland California - is being built to the north end of the existing Calsbad, California, US park, behind Fun Town.
