Legoland Florida and Travelex reach deal to list Lego currency on exchange
POSTED 12 Aug 2015 . BY Tom Anstey
The deal means Lego dollars can be exchanged in locations across the US
Legoland Florida is the first theme park to have its in-park currency officially listed on an exchange after agreeing a deal with Travelex.

People will be able to purchase Legoland Dollars from the global foreign exchange company after the theme park and resort entered into an exclusive partnership with Travelex to add the Lego currency on its exchange boards at 55 Travelex locations.

Available at an exchange rate of 1:1 with the US dollar at a minimum US$5 (€4.58, £3.22) exchange, Legoland Dollars will be available for purchase with US dollars at the selected Travelex locations for the busy summer season.

If guests purchase 50 Legoland Dollars (US$50, €45.78, £32.21), they will receive an additional US$39.25 (€35.94, £25.29) in value, with free parking, passes for the Legoland Water Park and an order of the resorts Granny’s Apple Fries included. Legoland Dollars can be spent at any of the resort’s restaurants, concessions and retail outlets.

"Everything at Legoland Florida is created for kids, including the currency,” said Adrian Jones, general manager of Legoland Florida. “By using Legoland Dollars with a playful design, it builds on the immersive experience for young guests.”

The currency will be available across the US at locations including Atlanta, Boca Raton, Dallas, Washington DC, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Orlando, Palm Beach, Philadelphia and Tampa.

Lego dollars will be available at a 1:1 exchange rate with the US dollar
