JW San Antonio Hill plans US$16m waterpark expansion
POSTED 18 Aug 2015 . BY Tom Anstey
The hotel’s River Bluff Water Experience adds a beach-entry gradual slope swimming pool complete with two new body slides
JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas, has announced plans for a US$16m (£10.3m, €14.6m) expansion to its waterpark River Bluff Water Experience.

The 25,000sq m (261,000sq ft) water park is set to gain a new pool, spa, cabanas and an artificial turf lawn space. The hotel’s River Bluff Water Experience adds a beach-entry gradual slope swimming pool complete with two new body slides, one of which incorporates a swift 60ft (18.2m) drop. In addition, a new 13,000sq ft (1,207sq m) multi-use pavilion will provide pre-function and event space opportunities for group meetings, dining, wedding events and corporate receptions.

The upgrade will be significant to the waterpark, which already features a lazy river, large activity pool, children's pool with slides, infinity pool overlooking the Hill Country vistas, hot and cold plunge pools and waterslides.

“The San Antonio climate enables travellers to enjoy our River Bluff Water Experience most of the year while our Texas Hill Country attentive culture reflects in our hospitality,” said Arthur Coulombe, general manager, JW Marriott San Antonio.

“We are thrilled to offer additional recreation space to our leisure guests and multiple flexible meeting and entertainment options to our group customers."

Work on the development is scheduled to commence in September, with a completion date of Q1 2016.
