IAAPA 2016: Triotech announces Ghostbusters dark ride for Heide Park and unveils Flyer ride
POSTED 22 Nov 2016 . BY Alice Davis
Triotech CEO Ernest Yale, centre, announced the Ghostbusters 5D ride during a press event at IAAPA Credit: IAAPA
Triotech is working alongside Sony Productions to create a Ghostbusters media-based dark ride for Heide Park in Soltau, Germany, it was announced at the IAAPA Attractions Expo.

The interactive experience, Ghostbusters 5D, is set to open at the Merlin Entertainments theme park in 2017. Riders will be taken on a ghost hunt with the aim of rescuing Heide Park from the invading ghouls, featuring lots of special effects as well as Triotech’s shooting technology. Guests will ride in an eight-person ECTO-1 vehicle.

“We are extremely proud to work with Heide Park’s team on what is for Triotech another major project with the team at Merlin Entertainments,” said Ernest Yale, Triotech CEO, who has worked with the attractions operator on its Ninjago rides at a number of Legoland locations.

“It goes without saying that we are thrilled to work on Ghostbusters, an iconic international intellectual property that needs no introduction,” Yale said.

Yale also unveiled Triotech’s brand new ride concept, The Flyer. The Flyer is a flying experience that can be scaled to meet the footprint and budget of clients across the board and can combine 3D content in CGI and live footage.

“The Flyer will be a truly unique experience”, said Yale. “For instance the fact that our solution is seat-based is very important. It allows every guest to live the same experience and is an important operational and maintenance advantage. ”

Eric Marradi, creative director, added: “The ability to mix both intense and smooth motion as well as CGI with live footage will be a tremendous story telling tool. For instance you can imagine an experience flying over a mountain range that would be very beautiful and contemplative. Now imagine the same experience but suddenly there is a storm coming in and that’s where the intense motion will help deliver the thrill factor.”

During IAAPA, Triotech also unveiled its plans for a Fear the Walking Dead attraction in Las Vegas, Nevada.
