IAAPA 2016: Dynamic Motion Theatre combines multimedia content, stunts and live action performance
POSTED 22 Nov 2016 . BY Alice Davis
Motion Theatre, by Dynamic Attractions, lifts, tilts, drops and rotates while audiences are immersed in the adventure
Dynamic Attractions unveiled its brand new ride concept at IAAPA last week, a rotating, tilting motion theatre, recognised for its innovative design with a Brass Ring Award for new product concept.

The theatre attraction, a moving platform which can be made to seat from 50 up to 100 people, features the company’s cutting-edge ride systems technology, enabling it to “spin, tilt, drop and follow the action like a movie camera”.

The circular motion theatre is surrounded by four projector screens, each of them can move to reveal a show set behind, creating a mix of film and live action scenarios.

“It’s completely versatile. It has the ability to tell whatever kind of story you want and it’s also scalable in terms of both capacity and the show elements you want to pack in,” said George Walker, VP of creative development, speaking to Attractions Management.

“From a show standpoint, it’s modular, so for example, you could have several distinctly different environmental show sets with different special effects and elements. The screens are articulated 360 degrees around the theatre, making it easy to bridge a storytelling piece between the locations with media.”

The production can also be supplemented with animatronics, moving scenery, fire and water effects, projection mapping and so on.

“It’s an amazing ride system, with 360 degree rotation, coin roll with tilt 10 degrees up and 10 degrees down – 20 degrees total displacement. Plus, a metre of heave, so it’s pretty aggressive, but at a family level of thrill,” said Walker.
