HOK and ICON Group pledge to 'transform the entertainment industry' with Las Vegas music venue

Global sports and arena architects HOK have been tasked with designing “the world’s largest next-generation music and entertainment venue” in Las Vegas.

Located on Sands Avenue in the heart of Vegas, the arena will feature a scalable seating capacity, enabling it to present a wide variety of shows – “from the largest touring concerts to specially designed residencies and full-blown productions and events.”

The project is being funded by the Madison Square Garden Company (MSG), who claim that the technologically advanced features will be utilised throughout the building, “creating a venue of the future capable of delivering new and innovative experiences.”

ICON Venue Group has been named the owner’s representative and project manager, overseeing the development, design and construction process. The company’s music and entertainment portfolio includes The O2 Arena in London, the newly-opened Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, and the HOK-designed multi-purpose Rogers Place in Edmonton.

“We look forward to working with our partners to deliver a truly groundbreaking experience in Las Vegas, one that will ultimately redefine the large-scale live music and entertainment landscape and set a new benchmark for both artists and fans,” said David O’Connor, president and CEO of MSG.

George Heinlein, a regional leader of HOK’s Sports + Recreation + Entertainment division, added: “HOK thrives when collaborating with a progressive client like MSG, which is willing to challenge the status quo. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to create an innovative design that brings to life MSG’s vision for a new kind of venue that will transform the entertainment industry.”

Design details at this stage are scarce, and MSG have yet to release an expected construction date.
