Fitness franchise StretchLab invests in movement inefficiency tech

US fitness franchise StretchLab has revealed plans to add machines that identify movement inefficiencies into its programming.

The assisted stretching franchise – which is owned by fitness behemoth Xponential Fitness – will begin rolling out TRX MAPS Technology across its 50-plus studios.

The TRX technology identifies movement inefficiencies across four critical categories – mobility, activation, posture and symmetry (MAPS).

It uses 3D technology to perform a total body movement assessment scan in under 30 seconds, as users perform three body-weight squats.

Results are delivered on-screen and via email, which will allow StretchLab's trainers – titled "flexologists" – to create a customised movement plan and offer a measurable way to see progress in flexibility.

Through analysing more than 2,000 data points in each individual’s movement, TRX MAPS has been designed to push a customised exercise plan designed to improve inefficiencies in the four areas. With regular scans, individuals can watch their progress over time.

"With technology-driven and trackable workouts continually on the rise in the fitness industry, StretchLab is excited to bring this trend to the recovery space with the TRX MAPS machine," said Lou DeFrancisco, president of StretchLab.

"While the benefits of stretching and recovery are undeniable, we believe the integration of technology in this vertical will prove just how advanced and effective StretchLab's programming and Flexologists are."
