US-based airline Continental will begin the first direct scheduled transatlantic service from the south of England next year.
The world’s sixth largest airline announced it will launch the daily service between Bristol and New York on 20 May 2005.
The route will be operated with a 172-seat Boeing 757 aircraft and will depart Bristol daily at 9am.
