The National Zoo and Aquarium in Canberra, Australia, is the new home for two endangered South American monkeys.
The baby cotton top tamarins were born two weeks ago as part of a regional breeding programme aimed at increasing the declining population, which stands at around 2,000 worldwide.
National Zoo spokesperson Trent Russell said: “We want to reintroduce them into the wild at some point. However, as the forests where they naturally occur are disappearing, there’s no point putting them back into the wild at this point in time.”
