Alnwick Castle in Northumberland has opened the £300,000 Dragon’s Quest interactive games area as part of its £3m ongoing development plan.
Dragon’s Quest features computer-controlled special effects and animatronics where children have to face various challenges and solve mysteries, meeting goblins and ghouls along the way, before they have to defeat the dragon.
David Wood, director of Alnwick Castle Ventures, said: “There are many folktales surrounding the north east including the Lambton Worm and the Laidly Worm at Bamburgh.
“We have brought the folklore up to date in Dragon’s Quest with the latest technology from the US, where companies like Disney have made it their business to entertain children for the last 30 years.”
The games will run until 29 October. Details: www.alnwickcastle.com
