A US$300m (£181m, €217m) Adventure Island is to be created as part of the expansive Doha Oasis Mall project in Qatar, with the development including retail shops and fine dining, as well an entertainment component.

The Island is to feature a progressive, signature ride created by Premier Rides, who have been contracted by the Halul Real Estate Investment Company to design and build an attraction known as Dragonfire.

The ride is to incorporate a number of leading techniques, including magnetic launches, high-speed switches and multi-directional movement of the vehicles.

The Ohio, US-based International Theme Park Services Inc. (ITPs) has been hired as the lead consultant to oversee the Adventure Island feature where Dragonfire will be built.

“Qatar is one of the most exciting places to be in the world right now. The development is unprecedented and combined with the preparations for the 2022 World Cup, there is a tremendous amount of energy in the country,” said Jim Seay, president of Premier Rides.

“We are extremely honored to be part of what is happening there. The magnitude of the Doha Oasis Mall project is quite stunning. One has to be there to see and appreciate the amazing scale.”

The mall project is expected to open in 2017.
