The British Museum's campaign to save a Roman sculpture from going to America has been boosted by a donation from Britain's largest art charity.
The National Art Collections Fund donated £100,000 to the campaign to acquire the Dog of Alcibades. The British Museum must raise funds in the region of £600,000 by 26 November to save the three foot sculpture from going to the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. This latest donation takes the total raised so far to £300,000.
