Disney has introduced a policy whereby all children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
If a staff member sees a guest who appears to be younger than 14, without someone who is older, they will engage in conversation to establish whether the individual can be there alone. The parent or guardian of any under age children will be contacted.
The age 14 was decided as organisations dealing with child welfare deemed this the appropriate age.
The move was apparently not triggered by an incident. “We regularly review all of our policies and we identified an opportunity to provide a consistent age of admission and address a question we occasionally get from parents,” said Disney spokesperson, Suzi Brown.
