The Museum of British Road Transport is to have a new frontage in a £21m revamp of three of Coventry's biggest attractions.

The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum and The Belgrade Theatre are also being given facelifts in the scheme, part of the £40m Phoenix Initiative to renovate disused space in the centre of the city.

A new public square, called Millennium Place, is being created, with the Museum of British Road Transport's new entrance at its head.

The Phoenix Initiative development includes excavating the remains of a tenth century cathedral, the creation of the Priory Visitor Centre and the revamp of Lady Herbert's gardens.

The square and surrounding area, Priory Place, will create space for new bars, cafés, restaurants and shops.

Master planners and architects for Phoenix Initiatives structures - including The Museum of British Road Transport's new frontage - were MacCormac, Jamieson and Pritchard of London, with Robert Rummey Associates as the landscape architects.
